The successful candidate will contribute to project research activities to identify and describe rice areas subject to salinity, submergence, and drought stresses in the Ayeyarwady delta and central dry zone of Myanmar in close collaboration with various stakeholders, coordinate evaluation and development of crop management options and of stress-tolerant rice varieties in conjunction with participatory studies. He/She will liaise with IRRI, NGOs, and NARES in Myanmar.

-PhD in agronomy, soil science, plant breeding or relevant fields • Experience in agronomic trials, varietal selection, coordinating multipartner and multidisciplinary activities • Strong team capability to work closely with others involved in project management and activities, including local staff • Field experience in rice agronomy, rice breeding • Working with research institutions/universities, government organizations, NGOs, and farmers in Myanmar • Strong communication and coordination skills
