 In this project, non-linear optics will be explored for the design of novel techniques for optical regeneration. One of the main goals of the project is to demonstrate the first optical regeneration of DWDM data with Terabit/s capacity. The project will build upon recent progress in the High-Speed Optical Communications Group at DTU Fotonik. In particular, optical Fourier transformation will be investigated. The project will mainly explore the Kerr non-linearity in optical fibres, but will also have the opportunity to employ non-linear silicon nanowires, newly developed at DTU Fotonik.  The candidate should have a master’s degree in engineering or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to the master’s degree in engineering. The candidate must have the ability to work independently when planning and carrying out complicated tasks. Furthermore – good communication skills within written and spoken English.
