This Scholarship was established in 2011 and awarded for the first time in 2012. This Scholarship is one of two awards 1 offered by the University of Waikato to recognise academic excellence and merit in the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA), or in the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE), or International Baccalaureate (IB). The remuneration of the Scholarships can be applied towards either tuition fees or the charges for accommodation in the University’s halls of residence.

To be eligible for consideration for this Scholarship, candidates must meet the following criteria: -Be a citizen or permanent resident of New Zealand -Have achieved University Entrance -Have achieved the NCEA Level 3 Certificate with an Excellence endorsement, or equivalent 3 , through a New Zealand school -Apply to enrol at the University of Waikato by the application deadline for new students -Apply to study as a full-time student (in a minimum of 120 points, usually eight papers) in an undergraduate degree -Be enrolling at the University for the first time 4 in 2013, and commencing study in the first semester of 2013.
