The position is available immediately, for a duration of up to 3 years with the possibility for an extension. In principle, this position could be divided into two half-time positions. The research project is associated with the Zukunftskolleg, an interdisciplinary research center funded by the German Excellence Initiative, at the University of Konstanz, which was recently successful in reaffirming its status as a top-level university in a national competition. Konstanz is beautifully located on the German side of Lake Constance, and borders directly on Switzerland.
Candidates must hold a Diploma/Masters degree in mathematics, computer science or a related area, and must have a very good knowledge of discrete/combinatorial optimization and algorithm theory. Good programming skills (C++) are desirable.
