The main purpose of this PhD is to develop an integrated framework for the human articulations functional analysis. Different criteria should be considered to create an efficient and accurate simulation model. In addition to the volumetric meshes generated from the anatomical models, the subject-specific joint kinematics and dynamics and the relevant mechanical properties of anatomical structures (non-linearity, viscoelasticity, etc.) have to be considered.
-Applicants will ideally have a background in computer science / engineering, Mathematics, Physics or Electrical engineering. -Strong knowledge in mechanics and physics, programming skills (C/C++), and communication skills are essential for the project. Previous knowledge of Finite Element Modeling (FEM) and VTK/ITK libraries is an asset. -Satisfactory levels in geometry and statistics is needed. -Good English written and spoken is mandatory. -Criteria on nationality, age and qualification apply. -The candidate must preferably be citizen of the European Union. -Researchers must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of their host organization for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the reference date. -Short stays, such as holidays, are not taken into account.
