The laboratory is located in the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics and is affiliated with MIMS (the Laboratory for Molecular Infection Medicine Sweden, under the auspices of the Nordic EMBL Partnership for Molecular Medicine. The Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics is part of KBC, the Chemical Biological Centre of Umeå University , and provides well-equipped common facilities in a creative, inspiring and highly interactive environment.

The applicant should have received, or be about to receive, a Ph.D. in cellular or molecular biology or in a related discipline. The successful candidate is expected to design and execute his or her project independently but also to work in close collaboration with the other members of the team. The applicant should be able to write scientific reports and publications. Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
