The South Asia Scholarship Program provides opportunities and scholarships for high quality post-graduate study for individuals from Afghanistan and Nepal. Applicants should demonstrate both academic and professional excellence and the potential to become leaders in the fields of human rights and sustainable development. These awards provide opportunities for outstanding individuals who have the potential to become leading practitioners in rights-based fields. The program also introduces students from Afghanistan and Nepal to colleagues from across the region and encourages cross-national dialogue among professional communities. The skills and knowledge gained during the program will allow alumni to contribute to the economic and democratic growth of their home country and serve as leaders in their targeted field of specialization.

The program does not discriminate on the basis of age, race, color, sex, religion, sexual orientation, or disability. The competition is merit-based and open to applicants who: -hold an undergraduate degree at the time of the application deadline with an excellent academic record; -are legal residents of and currently living in their home country; -have experience working in at least one of the fields listed above in home country; -are proficient in English; -are committed to returning to their home country after completion of the program to continue work and impart knowledge gained during their studies.

Deadline: Please note that this program has two deadlines: January 15, 2013 for TERI University (MA Sustainable Development Practice) January 31, 2013 for the University of Hong Kong (LLM Program applicants).
